Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya, who celebrated her birthday recently, received a pleasant surprise while attending an official engagement.

Amarasuriya had attended the ‘National Youth Awards’ ceremony organised by the National Youth Services Council on 6 March, which is also her birthday, and was invited on stage. 

As the Premier had got onto the stage, she had heard several voices from one side of the hall singing ‘Happy Birthday.’ Within a few minutes, the entire audience had started to sing ‘Happy Birthday.’

A stunned and embarrassed Amarasuriya had smiled and acknowledged the audience’s lovely gesture.
