Police Spokesman SSP Buddhika Manathunga stated that 17 police officers were dismissed in the past 4 months for using narcotic drugs.

Accordingly, he stated that intelligence units have identified officers involved in drug use, and they are being closely monitored.

Suspected officers undergo medical tests, and those confirmed to have used drugs face immediate dismissal.

Manathunga emphasised that no second chances will be given, as such behavior tarnished the reputation of the entire police force.
