The Cabinet of Ministers has reportedly granted approval to merge the debt-ridden Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC) and Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) into a single entity.
According to reports, this move had been made following a recommendation by the committee on reforming State enterprises.
The SLRC is reportedly Rs. 1,300 million in debt, while the SLBC owes Rs. 800 million.
The two institutions have a combined workforce of around 1,100.
