The World Bank has appointed David Sislen as the new Country Director for Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Maldives, effective July 1, 2024.
He succeeds Faris Hadad-Zervos, who is moving to a new assignment within the World Bank.
Sislen, a dual US-Italian national, joined the World Bank in 2001 and has held various positions, most recently as Practice Manager for Urban, Disaster Risk Management, and Land in the Latin American and Caribbean region.
His key priority will be to lead strategic dialogues and implement operational engagements, focusing on speed, scale, and impact, with a portfolio of approximately $4.8 billion in the three countries.
