Sri Lanka Planetarium
I recently visited the Sri Lanka Planetarium and it was an incredible experience! For just Rs. 250 per person, you can attend the Saturday 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. shows, which is a great deal. The 1.5-hour show is mostly announced in Sinhala, which adds to the immersive experience. The Planetarium is a perfect place to learn about astronomy and expand your knowledge about the universe. I would highly recommend a visit to the Planetarium as it’s an unforgettable experience that you don’t want to miss out on!
Sri Lanka Air Force Museum
The museum is open six days a week (closed on Mondays) and tickets are just Rs. 200 each. And trust me, it’s worth every cent! The museum has a rich history and showcases the aviation industry in Sri Lanka. It’s a great way to learn about the early days of aviation and the advancements that have been made over the years. The museum also has a range of aircraft and helicopters on display that you can explore up close. You can even go inside some of them! It’s a great opportunity to get an inside look at how these incredible machines work. So if you’re a fan of aviation, or just looking for something new to do, I highly recommend visiting the airport museum in Ratmalana. It’s a great way to spend your day and learn something new!
Water World
I must say, Water World was a unique experience! It’s similar to a zoo, but with just fish and birds. Located in Kelaniya, it’s a bit further from Colombo city but definitely worth the trip. They have two ticket packages available – Package-A is priced at Rs. 550 per person and Package-B is priced at Rs. 950 per person, which includes a boat ride through a river. Unfortunately, it does come to Rs. 1,100 for two people, but trust me, it’s worth it! The main attraction is the underwater tunnel where you can see sharks swimming above and around you - it’s absolutely thrilling! If you’re looking for something unique and exciting to do, I highly recommend a visit to Water World. It’s a great way to spend your day and learn about the different marine species.
Swan pedal boating
I recently tried out swan pedal boating and it was so much fun! If you’re looking for some physical activity that’s affordable, this is the perfect option for you. For just Rs. 300, two people can enjoy a 30-minute ride. Not only is it affordable, but it’s also a great way to enjoy a beautiful sunset and do some free bird watching along the ride. It’s a unique experience that you don’t want to miss out on! So if you’re looking for a fun and budget-friendly activity, I highly recommend checking out swan pedal boating. Trust me, you won’t regret it!
Colombo National Museum
Visiting the Colombo National Museum was an amazing experience! The best part is that it’s open all seven days of the week, so you can visit at your convenience. And the cherry on top? Tickets are only Rs. 100 per person! The museum has so much history under one roof, it’s truly fascinating. As kids, we were taken there for school trips but didn’t really understand or learn much. But now, as an adult, I can appreciate and learn so much about the way of life centuries ago. It’s a great way to relive history and understand the rich cultural heritage of Sri Lanka. I highly recommend a visit to the Colombo National Museum – it’s a great way to spend your day and learn something new!
