Sri Lanka, who are in the US for the forthcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup will fine tune their preparations for the mega event, with two warm-up games against Netherlands and Ireland respectively, at Broward County Stadium, Broward County in Florida next week.
Their first warm-up fixture will be against the Dutch on 28 May, while they will then confront the Irish, in their last preparatory game 72-hours later.
According to Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) sources, both warm-up games will be ideal for Wanidu Hasaranga’s team to adjust to the conditions in the United States and to gauge the state of pitches, being used for the month-long showpiece.
Ironically, Sri Lanka also will take on the same Netherlands outfit, in their final group match which has been scheduled for St. Lucia in the West Indies-the other co-host of the event, on 17 June.
An interesting feature of the warm-up games will be that it will be played sans official T20 status being accorded by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
All teams who have been provided with warm-up games will also have the opportunity to field all members of their 15-member squads, as approved by the game’s world ruling body.
