Colombo has a new cafe joining its ranks, with the Courtyard by Marriott Colombo opening the doors of its exclusive coffee shop and cafe – Tito’s.
Colombo has quite a few coffee shops, but what sets Tito’s apart is its quality and experience. Located on the ground floor of the Courtyard by Marriott (which is technically the ground floor of the Colombo City Centre, Tito’s offers a calm escape in a busy area, much like the main Courtyard by Marriott Colombo itself.
Tito’s has been specially designed to awaken your senses to the pleasing aroma of freshly produced coffee and exquisite teas every day from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. While the friendly baristas create delicious teas, coffees, and fresh juices, the culinary team at Tito’s works behind the scenes to create freshly baked bread, scrumptious cakes, and savoury treats. The cosy coffee shop has an inviting interior, complete with warm furnishings, soft music, and plenty of natural light – the ideal location for anyone looking for a casual respite from the business of the city.
Tito’s is equally versatile for business and pleasure with high-speed internet and WiFi available to all customers; it is the perfect place to catch up with friends or colleagues or to host an intimate meeting while sipping on some of the finest coffee in Colombo and sampling some delectable snacks and treats. Remote working professionals will find the warm ambience of Tito’s perfect for working on collaborative projects and discussions. Tito’s is also designed to welcome students in an environment where they can benefit from its central location and relaxing atmosphere.
Courtyard by Marriott Colombo General Manager Elton Hurtis shared that Tito’s was envisioned to be a stop for all of Colombo’s professionals, young and old, be it on their way to office in the morning, for a break at lunch, a temporary place to base themselves from, or simply a place to relax by themselves or with friends.
Tito’s has been inspired by high-end jewellery stores, with many of the display cases modelled after jewellery display cases to further evoke a sense of quiet luxury and drive home the fact that Tito’s offerings are handcrafted by its culinary team.
The Sunday Morning Brunch tried a selection of the items Tito’s has to offer and we found them very tempting. Both in terms of savoury and sweet, the Tito’s culinary team led by Courtyard by Marriott Executive Chef Nuwan Silva pushes the bar when it comes to being inventive. Some of the unusual dishes we sampled included the seeni sambol and egg roti (very subtly flavoured and not too spicy), the pork rotti which features a preparation of sweet and spicy pork, and the crab cutlet (again, very delicately flavoured and crumbed in coconut), to name a few.
On the sweets side of things, the croissants and pastries at Tito’s were top-notch; we loved the mango and passion cheesecake and the chocolate truffle cake was also divine. For the coffee, we weren’t very adventurous and went with cappuccino, but this too was impeccably done.
All in all, Tito’s is well worth the visit, whatever the reason, as a quick hunger buster or as a venue to escape the bustle of the city.
