Over 30 travel agents based in Sri Lanka attended Indonesia’s tourism promotion event, which was held by the Indonesian Embassy in Colombo last Friday (1) at Riptaloka Room, Indonesian Embassy in Colombo, Sri Lanka. This event succeeded in highlighting the increased interest among Sri Lankans to travel to Indonesia. The event was also attended by Laras Tours Indonesia (LTI), an Indonesian travel agent company, which took the opportunity to promote attractive packages to several tourist destinations in Indonesia.
In her speech, Indonesian Ambassador to Sri Lanka and the Maldives Dewi Gustina Tobing expressed her appreciation for the invited participants’ attendance. “The number of companies that attended this event reflects high enthusiasm from travel agents in Sri Lanka to increase outbound visits by tourists from Sri Lanka to Indonesia,” emphasised the Ambassador.
Ambassador Dewi Gustina Tobing also emphasised the Indonesian Embassy’s commitment to facilitating and assisting travel agents in Sri Lanka with regard to travel documents (visas) for potential tourists from Sri Lanka based on existing regulations.
Sri Lankan travel agents who attended the event expressed optimism with regard to more tour package offers to Indonesia at interesting prices and hoped for reductions in visa costs for prospective tourists from Sri Lanka whod like to visit Indonesia.
During his presentation, LTI CEO Dr. Satiti Handini presented several potential tourist destinations in Indonesia, such as Labuan Bajo, Mandalika, Toba Lake, Yogyakarta and Central Java (Borobudur), Bandung, and Bali. These tourist destinations can be visited by Sri Lankan tourists at relatively competitive prices compared to several other favourite tourist destinations in Southeast Asia. For this reason, LTI and tourism businessmen in Indonesia will continue to strive to establish contact and collaborate with fellow travel agents in Sri Lanka to promote tourist destinations in Indonesia at competitive prices.
Furthermore, the cooperation between travel agents also opened to other travel companies/operators, specifically those interested in extending their market package in Sri Lanka.
