A 22-year-old youth arrested under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) for pasting a sticker condemning Israeli military actions in Gaza has been released on bail.
Mohamad Rusdi, a salesperson at a mall in Slave Island, was detained on 22 March by the Terrorism Investigation Division, with authorities citing alleged extremist views.
His arrest sparked public protests and international criticism, including from Amnesty International, which condemned the use of the PTA against peaceful expression.
A 3-month detention order had been issued by the President, but the court granted Rusdi bail today (7) after weeks of public outcry.
