At the sixth anniversary memorial of the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks, Archbishop of Colombo Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith accused elements of the former regime of suppressing the truth through state institutions.
He alleged a “para-state” continues to obstruct justice and made seven key appeals to President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, including releasing the full investigation report, prosecuting all involved, probing military ties, and enacting legal reforms.
He urged bold action to prevent the tragedy from being buried by time and emphasized the need for justice for over 250 lives lost.
