Minister of Transport, Highways, Ports, and Civil Aviation Bimal Rathnayake announced plans to expand domestic flights to boost local tourism. 

Speaking during an inspection of Jaffna International Airport, he emphasised the need to amend laws to facilitate private airline operations.

The Government aims to increase flights between Katunayake and Jaffna, making domestic air travel more accessible and commercially viable.
