Yoshitha Rajapaksa, the second son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, has been summoned to appear before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on 3 January 2025 in respect of an ongoing investigation.
The investigation is in relation to a claim of ownership over a property in Kataragama, Police Media Spokesperson Buddhika Manatunga said.
“There is an ongoing investigation in respect of a property in Kataragama, where we had questioned Major Neville Wanniarachchi day before yesterday (27) and Rajapaksa has been summoned as a part of ongoing investigations,” he said.
Major Wanniarachchi is the former Chief Security Officer to former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
When asked if a case had been filed, Manatunga replied negatively.
He said that legal action would be pursued only after the conclusion of investigations.
