State Minister for Higher Education Suren Raghavan announced that President Ranil Wickremesinghe has decided to establish a National Higher Education Authority.
He stated that the authority will be established to carry out studies on research and developments regarding the new education reforms being carried out in the countries of the region, as well as in the rest of the world.
The State Minister for Higher Education noted that it has been decided to enrol 41,000 students in state universities next year.
He added that students should engage in social services for 4 months, under their preferred study stream.
State Minister Raghavan further noted that many reforms in the humanities department of the country's universities are planned to be carried out soon.
He added that plans have been made to appoint Deputy Vice Chancellors in addition to the Vice Chancellor to further strengthen the administrative process of the universities.
