The Department of Meteorolog stated that the sun will be directly overhead several parts of Sri Lanka today (8)due to its apparent northward movement across the island from 5 to 14 April.

At around 12:12 p.m., the sun will be directly above Nainamadama, Sandalankawa, Kundasale, Mahiyanganaya, and Kalmunai.

Showers or thundershowers are expected in most parts of the island, with heavy rain likely in several provinces. 

The public is advised to take precautions against lightning and strong winds.
