The Election Commission has officially assigned electoral symbols to all 39 candidates, including independent candidates, for the 2024 Presidential Election scheduled for 21 September.
The allocation of symbols marks a significant step towards the Election, providing clarity for voters as they prepare to cast their ballots.
Among the candidates, 17 are independent, each of whom has been assigned a unique symbol to represent them on the ballot. Candidates representing political parties will use their respective party symbols. These symbols play an essential role in the electoral process, as they help voters easily identify their preferred candidates on the ballot paper.
The electoral symbols for the independent candidates are as follows: Ranil Wickremesinghe – Gas Cylinder; Sarath Keerthirathne – Football; K.K. Piyadasa – Calculator; Ajantha de Soyza – Pineapple; K. Ananda Kularatne – Medal; Akmeemana Dayarathana Thero – Black Board; Siripala Amarasinghe – Tyre; Sarath Fonseka – Lantern; Antony Victor Perera – Motor Bicycle; Mohamed Ilyaz – Syringe; Marakkalamanage Premasiri – Pair of Spectacles; Anura Sidney Jayarathne – Jackfruit; D.M.
