Two accidents reported island-wide including one involving a motor vehicle and a drowning, claimed the lives of three.
Two youths, aged 24 and 34, have drowned while bathing in the ‘Ihala Kanhidigama’ lake in Kahatagasdigiliya, according to the Police. The victims were residents of Polgahawela and Pujapitiya. Investigations have revealed that the two drowned on 20 October evening after drinking alcohol with two others and then going to bathe. The bodies have been sent to the Kahatagasdigiliya Base Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Earlier, a motorcyclist traveling from Thewatta towards the Dambuwa Junction in Ragama had reportedly lost control of the bike, veered off the road, and crashed into an electricity pole on a byroad. According to the Police, the motorcycle rider, who was seriously injured, succumbed to his injuries after being admitted to the Colombo North Teaching Hospital. The deceased was a 17-year-old resident of Kandaliyadda Paluwa, Ragama.
