Five suspects who were illegally possessing firearms were arrested during raids carried out in different parts of the country.
According to the Police, the suspects - aged between 19 and 60 years of age - were arrested in Nikaweratiya, Kolonna, Habaraduwa, Inginiyagala, and Pottuvil.
Police are conducting further investigations on the matter.
