Police has launched a pilot project enabling instant online fine payments for traffic violations through the ‘GovPay’ app.
The system allows motorists to pay fines by entering a reference number, with police receiving instant payment confirmation to return licenses on the spot.
The project, introduced by ICTA and active from 11 to 30 April, covers areas including Kurunegala, Dambulla, and Anuradhapura.
Multiple charge sheets can now be issued for multiple violations.
If successful, the system will be expanded islandwide.
