A group of 48 Sri Lankan domestic workers who had gone to Kuwait for employment and were unable to return to Sri Lanka for a long time after facing severe problems, arrived in the country this morning (22) from Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport.
Although 51 Sri Lankans were brought to Kuwait airport to be sent to Sri Lanka, three of them have not been able to come to Sri Lanka due to deficiencies in their documents.
Among the domestic workers arrived today are 38 women and 10 men.
It was reported that these Sri Lankans have been staying in Kuwait for more than 04 years and they have been working in other workplaces after leaving their employers.
However, they were not able to return to Sri Lanka, and they have registered to come to Sri Lanka at the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Kuwait, and they were returned home with temporary passports.
Sri Lankan Ambassador to Kuwait, Mr. Kandeepan Balasubramaniam, and the Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau have taken great efforts to do the necessary work with the officials of the Immigration Department in order to bring the group to Sri Lanka.
