The Department of Irrigation has issued flood warnings for several low-lying areas of Attanagalu Oya and Uruwal Oya river basins, effective until 9.45 a.m. on 13 October.

It stated that a considerable rainfall has occurred in most of the catchment areas of Attanagalu Oya Basin as of 9.00 a.m. today (11). 

The Department warned of a possibility of floods occurring in some of low-lying areas of Attanagalu Oya and Uruwal Oya river basins situated in Diwulapitiya, Mirigama, Attanagalla, Mahara, Gampaha, Minuwangoda, Ja-Ela, Katana and Wattala divisional secretariat (DS) divisions within the next 48 hours.
