Former Thomian rugby star Rizvi Suhayb passes away

Former S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia skipper and CR & FC and Kandy SC rugby centre three-quarter Rizvi Suhayb passed away on Thursday (26) after a brief illness. He was 54 at the time of his death.

Suhayb captained S. Thomas’ in 1989, leading them to the double glory of emerging unofficial league champions and winning the knockout trophy against Isipathana. He captained the Sri Lanka Under 20 team in a tour of Thailand in 1989.

He was the younger brother of former Royal and CR & FC centre three-quarter Firoze Suhayb.
