Local Government (LG) election activities remain suspended in areas where petitions challenge rejected nominations.

The Court of Appeal ordered Returning Officers to halt proceedings for the Colombo Municipal Council and other affected bodies until tomorrow (03).

An agreement was reached to accept nominations with original birth certificates among the rejected submissions.

Nearly 30 petitions have been filed by parties including the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) and ‘Sarvajana Balaya’ alliance.
