With the aim of grooming young shuttlers for future local and international events, SriLanka Badminton (SLB) has taken steps to develop Under-13 squads in all districts. Under the ambitious initiative, pools were formed in Kilinochchi, Jaffna, and Vavuniya districts recently in the presence of SLB President Rohan De Silva and SLB Vice-presidents.

Under the same programme, selection of Monaragala, Badulla, Nuwaraeliya, Mullaitivu, Mannar, Anuradhapura, and Kurunagala districts pool selections were also held over the weekend.

Each pool consists of 15 boys and girls under the age of 13 years, making up a total of 30 players per each district.

The task of developing the squads has been handed over to the regional committees with the support of the badminton associations of all 25 districts under the coordination of SLB Development Committee Chairman Roshan Gunawardena.
