- Nat’l Integration Dep. Min. Muneer Mulaffar says TRC of previous govt. needs to be considered in detail and broadly
The Government is planning to introduce an inclusive mechanism to strengthen national unity based on the people’s mandate it received at the last General Election, according to the Deputy Minister of National Integration Muneer Mulaffar.
Speaking to The Daily Morning yesterday (9), Mulaffar said that the Ministry of Justice and National Integration will take necessary steps in the coming months to promote national unity. He stressed that the Government’s approach will include the participation of all communities in the country. “The Government will adopt a system where every group in society can take part. Our goal is to strengthen national unity through a truly inclusive mechanism,” Mulaffar stated.
He further noted that the current Government is working within institutions and frameworks that were introduced by previous regimes.
When questioned about the continuation of the truth and reconciliation-related commission, a measure proposed earlier to address past issues, Mulaffar said that the matter needs to be discussed in detail. “It is something that must be looked at carefully and broadly. We want to introduce a good system with the participation of everyone,” he said. He further stressed the importance of engaging all groups in decision-making processes to ensure unity.
Mulaffar added that the National People’s Power Government has received an “unprecedented mandate” from the people. According to him, this strong support has made it easier to address key national issues and implement measures for peace and harmony. “This mandate shows that the people trust us to bring positive change. It is now our responsibility to deliver on that trust and work for national unity,” he explained. He also expressed confidence that such a mechanism would ensure the involvement of every community, creating a strong foundation for long-term unity and reconciliation in the country.
