The High Commission of India in Colombo celebrated India’s 75th Republic Day today (26) with a series of events.
High Commissioner Santosh Jha hoisted the national flag and read out the President’s address at India House.
A cultural programme featuring folk dances and songs by the Sri Lanka Navy band was held at the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center.
The High Commissioner paid homage to the Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF) martyrs at the memorial.
.A reception was planned for the evening with several Sri Lankan dignitaries.
The Consulates General of India in Hambantota and Jaffna and the Assistant High Commission in Kandy also marked the occasion.
Accordingly, the Republic Day coincided with the six-month anniversary of the India-Sri Lanka Economic Partnership Vision.
