MP J.C. Alawathuwala stated that MP Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka has submitted his resignation as Chairman of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB).

This took place after he placed a deposit to contest in the 2024 Presidential Election as an independent candidate on Monday (5).
