Police has launched a Central Crimes Investigation Bureau (CCIB) to enhance the investigation of cases under the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). 

Led by Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Nihal Thalduwa and SSP Shani Abeysekera, the bureau will focus on financial crimes, misuse of state funds, state property, and past fraudulent activities.
