Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deshabandu Tennakoon has said that the Police is prepared to speak to the members of the drug mafia and the underworld in a manner they will understand.
Tennakoon has noted that the ongoing ‘Yukthiya’ operation aimed at cracking down on the drug mafia and the underworld is not a temporary one and that it will continue until underworld elements are wiped out of the country.
The IGP made these observations during a recent meeting held on the ‘Yukthiya’ operation.
Tennakoon has called on the public to provide information to the Police on any underworld elements without any fear since the information will be handled with utmost secrecy.
