The Department of Irrigation reported that 27 out of Sri Lanka’s 73 main reservoirs have reached spill levels, including significant overflow in districts like Anuradhapura (7 out of 10) and Batticaloa (3 out of 4).
Other affected areas include Ampara, Badulla, Hambantota, and Trincomalee.
The National Building Research Organization (NBRO) has issued a Yellow Landslide Warning valid until 8:30 PM today (13) for regions in Badulla, Kandy, Kurunegala, Matale, and Nuwara Eliya.
Residents in high-risk areas are urged to exercise caution.
