Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya praised UNESCO's initiative to protect the Sacred City of Anuradhapura, emphasizing its universal significance as both a Sri Lankan and global heritage site.
Speaking at the International Expert Conference in Paris, Amarasuriya highlighted Sri Lanka's 75-year partnership with UNESCO, marking a productive year with the Director-General's visit to Sri Lanka and the expert conference on Anuradhapura.
The conference brought together global experts to discuss sustainable strategies for conserving Anuradhapura, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since the 1980s.
Amarasuriya also announced plans to develop Anuradhapura, Jaffna, and Kandy as heritage cities, reinforcing the Government's commitment to preserving cultural heritage.
