The Sri Lanka-Canada Business Council (SLCBC) of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce recently wrapped up a fruitful trade and investment mission to Canada, aimed at enhancing bilateral ties and exploring opportunities in key sectors.
Led by SLCBC President Priyantha Chandrasekara, the delegation engaged with Canadian business leaders, Government officials, and academic institutions from 14-22 October.
A highlight of the mission was the Sri Lanka-Canada Business Forum on 15 October, which showcased collaboration opportunities in areas like education, agriculture, tourism, and technology.
Discussions also emphasised the Colombo Port City project and the Kankesanthurai Industrial Processing Zone as attractive investment options.
Meetings included fruitful dialogues with the Council of Ontario Universities, Global Affairs Canada, and various business associations, focusing on educational partnerships and expanding Sri Lankan exports, especially coconut products.
The mission concluded with a commitment to foster sustainable economic growth and plans for a Canadian delegation's visit to Sri Lanka in early 2025, paving the way for future collaborations.
