President Anura Kumara Dissanayake announced that a National Tariff Policy and a new Customs Act will be introduced to boost Sri Lanka’s export industry.

Presenting the 2025 Budget speech, he stated that a national export development plan for 2025–2029 will be implemented to expand the country’s goods and services exports.

A simplified, transparent, and predictable tariff framework will be introduced to help exporters access high-quality raw materials at affordable costs.

Accordingly, Sri Lanka aims to generate USD 19 billion in export revenue this year.

The President also revealed that a new Customs Act is being drafted to enhance trade efficiency and improve revenue collection.
