The Department of Meteorology has warned that the Heat Index is expected to reach the ‘Caution level’ in several regions tomorrow (23).

Affected areas include the Northern, North-Central, North-Western, and Eastern provinces, as well as the Monaragala and Hambantota districts.

At this level, prolonged outdoor exposure could lead to fatigue and heat cramps, especially during strenuous activity, the advisory noted.

Residents are urged to stay hydrated, avoid excessive physical exertion outdoors, wear light-colored clothing, and check on vulnerable individuals.

The Heat Index is calculated using maximum temperature and relative humidity, and the public is advised to take necessary precautions.
