The Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) will add 20 new check-in counters to accommodate increasing tourist arrivals, as decided during a meeting chaired by Minister of Civil Aviation, Bimal Rathnayake.

An inspection was conducted to identify locations for the counters, and the Minister emphasized the need to expand airport facilities further.

With a goal of attracting 12 million air passengers by 2028, the Government plans to enhance tourism infrastructure, a vital contributor to state revenue.
