US Assistant Secretary of State Donald Lu meets President Dissanayake

The U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, Donald Lu, met with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake today (7) to discuss anti-corruption initiatives.


The U.S. expressed its commitment to providing financial and technical support to strengthen Sri Lanka’s economy, security, and efforts to recover misappropriated funds.


Mr. Lu commended Sri Lanka’s prioritization of political and economic reforms, reaffirming U.S. support for the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. President Dissanayake highlighted ongoing efforts to combat corruption and uplift rural living standards while fostering a modern, efficient public service.


Key officials, including U.S. Ambassador Julie Chung and The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) representatives, participated in the meeting.
