Teacher arrested for leaking GCE A/L exam paper

Teacher arrested for leaking GCE A/L exam paper

14 Jan 2024 | BY Lahiru Doloswala

A teacher working at a public school in Ampara has been arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for allegedly leaking the second paper of the 2023 GCE Advanced Level (A/L) Agricultural Science exam.

The 52-year-old was arrested and subsequently remanded until 26 January by the Ampara Magistrate's Court (MC).

The arrest comes after the Department of Examinations nullified the second paper of the Agricultural Science exam in all three languages during the ongoing GCE A/L examinations

The decision to annul the exam paper was made due to suspicions of its leakage on social media ahead of the scheduled examination.

In response to the incident, the Commissioner General of Examinations declared that a new paper for the affected subject would be provided after the completion of the ongoing exams.
