Minister of Foreign Affairs (FM) Vijitha Herath revealed today (14) that Sri Lanka has officially applied for membership in BRICS.
According to the Minister, this application underscores Sri Lanka’s intent to strengthen ties with emerging economies and diversify its multilateral relationships.
The Secretary to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Aruni Wijewardane will be submitting the request for membership during the BRICS Outreach Summit, which will be held in Kazan, Russia from 23-24 October.
