The Cabinet has approved raising Government assistance for low-income families under the "A Home for You, A Future for the Country" housing program from Rs. 650,000 to Rs. 1 million per house.

The move follows a rise in construction costs from Rs. 1,147,000 to Rs. 1,764,000 per house. 

Priority is given to one family per Grama Niladhari Division, with beneficiaries required to build at least a 550-square-foot house while covering additional costs themselves.
