A meeting between President Anura Kumara Disanayake and the Italian Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Damiano Francovigh, was held today (27) at the Presidential Secretariat. 

Ambassador Francovigh reaffirmed Italy's support for Sri Lanka's new administration in enhancing bilateral relations and boosting economic initiatives.

Accordingly, the meeting emphasised cooperation in the development of Sri Lanka’s tourism and investment sectors.

Ambassador Francovigh also expressed hope for a swift resolution to issues concerning the working visa process for Sri Lankans migrating to Italy. 

The President assured that the Sri Lankan Government would support agreements to facilitate legal employment opportunities for Sri Lankan youth working in Italy and those planning to migrate.
