Sri Lanka Police have launched an investigation into a photograph circulating online, claimed to be taken during the ‘Siri Dalada Wandanawa’ at the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy.

Authorities clarified that mobile phones are not permitted during the exposition, and no photographs of the Sacred Tooth Relic are allowed.

The CID has been instructed by Acting IGP Priyantha Weerasuriya to determine the authenticity of the photo and identify the person responsible.

Police are also probing whether the image was digitally altered.
