Former BASL Secretary Rajeev Amarasuriya joins CBSL Governing Board

Attorney-at-Law Rajeev Amarasuriya has been appointed to the Governing Board of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL).


The former Secretary to the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) was appointed by President Ranil Wickremesinghe, upon having received the approval of the Constitutional Council.


Amarasuriya was known for his innovative legal education initiatives, including webinars and online courses. 


He holds key positions in various organizations, such as the University of Colombo Council and the Sri Lanka Accounting and Auditing Standards Board. 


Amasuriya holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree with Honours from the University of Colombo, is a Gold Medal Winner of the Sri Lanka Law College, and is pursuing his PhD at the University of Colombo.


Additionally, he is a Fellow Member of CIMA (UK) and CMA Sri Lanka, and an AFGG-Raisina Fellow, with a notable record of presenting papers at both international and national conferences.
