The U.S. Tsunami Warning System indicated potential waves of up to 3 meters above tide levels along certain Philippine coasts.

Evacuation orders were issued, urging people living near the coast of Surigao Del Sur and Davao Oriental provinces to immediately evacuate or move farther inland. Japan's southwestern coast was also warned of possible tsunami waves reaching up to a meter.

While significant damage from the quake itself wasn't expected, authorities cautioned about possible aftershocks. The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre reported a magnitude 7.5 quake at a depth of 63 km, while the U.S. Geological Survey noted a magnitude 7.6 quake at a depth of 32 km.
