Certified document validity no longer limited to 6 mos : Registrar General's Dept.

The Registrar General's Department announced that certified copies of birth, marriage, and death certificates issued by them will be valid after a  after a period of 6 months. 


The department has removed the previous regulations specifying the 6-month validity period for the documents.


The department informed that if individuals possess certified copies of these certificates, there is no requirement to obtain new copies. 


This updated policy extends to documents issued by the department, including those used for official purposes such as the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Department of Immigration and Emigration, and Department of Registration of Persons.


However, the department clarified that obtaining a new copy is only necessary if any amendments have been made to the respective birth, marriage, or death register.
