England fast bowler Jofra Archer endured a tough outing in the Indian Premier League (IPL), recording the most expensive bowling figures in the tournament’s history with 0-76 in 4 overs. Rajasthan Royals (RR) side suffered a 44-run defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in a high-scoring thriller yesterday (23).
Accordingly, the previous record was held by Mohit Sharma, who conceded 73 runs in 4 overs for Gujarat Titans against Delhi Capitals in 2024.
Sunrisers Hyderabad put on a batting masterclass, amassing 286-6, just one run short of their own record for the highest IPL total, set in 2024. Ishan Kishan led the charge with a breathtaking 106* off 47 balls, supported by Travis Head’s 67 (31) and Heinrich Klaasen’s late cameo of 34 (14).
RR had a shaky start at 50-3, but a resilient 111-run stand between Sanju Samson (66 off 37) and Dhruv Jurel (70 off 35) gave them hope. Their efforts weren’t enough to chase down the mammoth total, as they ended on 242-6. Sunrisers’ Harshal Patel impressed with 2-34, while Pat Cummins had a tough outing, conceding 60 runs without a wicket.
Sunrisers Hyderabad, runners-up in 2024, began their campaign on a strong note as they look to go one step further this season.
