Former Sri Lankan cricketer Dhammika Niroshana, 41, was shot dead in his Ambalangoda home last night (17). 

According to the Police, an unidentified assailant opened fire while Niroshana was with his wife and two children. 

Niroshana, who debuted for the Sri Lanka Under-19s in 2000, played under-19 Test and ODI cricket for two years.

The motive and the suspect remain unknown, the police stated.
