The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has taken legal action against over 1,200 retailers for violating consumer protection laws between 25 March and 12 April.

Offenses included inflated pricing, failure to display prices, and deceiving consumers. 

In Kandy alone, 25 retailers were charged for excessive pricing.
