16 Jul 2024

A unique Sri Lankan-origin natural royal blue sapphire, exceeding 100 carats and valued at three million US dollars, captivated attendees at the Singapore International Jewellery Expo (SIJE) 2024.

Exhibited by a Singaporean jeweller, this exclusive gem was one of only five available globally.

Displayed at the Sri Lanka pavilion, organized by the Sri Lankan High Commission and National Gem and Jewellery Authority (NGJA), the SIJE showcased over $250 million worth of gems and jewellery from more than 300 companies across 35 countries.

High Commissioner Senarath Dissanayake and State Minister Alvin Tan inaugurated the event.

Sri Lanka's gem exports to Singapore, totaling $144.58 million in 2022, reflect increasing demand and potential in this sector
