After a lengthy trial in the Galle High Court, the verdict in a long-standing homicide case has been announced, with the accused being sentenced to death.
The 50-year-old accused, a resident of the Imaduwa area, was convicted for committing homicide on 6 February 2000, by intentionally electrocuting to death a person using an unauthorised electricity connection in the Koratuhenagoda area within the Imaduwa Police division.
The death sentence was handed down on Wednesday (16).
