The Sri Lanka Railway Station Masters Union have threatened to initiate trade union action.
The union claims the Government and the Cabinet has discriminated the rank of station master by deliberately excluding it from the list of positions eligible for grade promotions every five years.
According to the union, this discrepancy has fueled discontent among station masters, who claim their entitlement to equal treatment in terms of career advancement opportunities.
However, the union claims that despite ongoing discussions with relevant authorities, including the General Manager of Railways, officials from the Department of Transportation, and the Minister of Transport, a satisfactory resolution has remained elusive.
Expressing frustration over the lack of progress, the union has called for immediate intervention to address the issue.
The union stressed that failure to provide solutions to their grievances by 14:00 hours on 14 June will prompt the initiation of trade union action.
