Dr. Amal Harsha de Silva of the Gampaha District Cycling Association, former secretary of the Ministry of Sports, was elected unopposed as the new president of the Sri Lanka Cycling Federation.
This is the third time he has been elected as the president of the Cycling Federation. In last year's official election, he was also elected as the chairman, but in the meantime, he had to leave the post after taking over as the secretary of the Ministry of Sports.
Meanwhile, for the third time in a row, the post of secretary of the cycling federation fell on the shoulders of Naleen Adhikariarachchi of Kelaniya Cycling Sports Club. While Anoma Ganepola was elected as the treasurer of the association, W. Deepananda, Group Captain Perera, E.M. Dissanayake, Chandana Kandanarachchi, Nishanka Mahesh Molligoda, Upul Nandana de Silva, Anitani Joseph Fernando and Seetha Kumari were elected as new Vice Presidents of the Association.
It was notable that 32 out of 42 sports clubs with voting rights participated in the relevant office election which was under the supervision of a three-person committee.
